The parish of Kilworth nestles in the north- eastern corner of County Cork. In the course of the last fifty years or so those who live in the village and in the surrounding area have shown that cooperative effort of the kind promoted by the late Canon Hayes, founder of Muintir na Tíre, can lead to the development of a vibrant community. This is the story of what the Kilworth community has achieved and perhaps if there is a lesson to be learned, then it is that a high measure of courage and a steely self-reliance will lead to the development of a better place for all. A generosity of spirit is required too, and Kilworth has shown that ordinary people who are prepared to give of their limited time can provide a worthy place for their children.
